Who saw the most recent SNL? We just watched it on DVR last night, and Jimmy Fallon had a "Weekend Update" joke that was so funny it even cracked up Tina Fey, who must have heard it nineteen times already. This is from memory and not verbatim:

"In Georgia this week, a compromise was reached that will allow the word 'evolution' to continue to be used in classrooms. As a trade-off, however, the word 'dinosaur' will be replaced with 'Jesus horse.'"

My girlfriend could not understand why I laughed so hard I could not breathe after that. There was even a picture.

Really. Could not breathe.

The picture was great. If I recall, it was a triceratops. Hmm ... three horns ... triune god ... Damn, maybe the picture was a subtle in-joke.

Okay, that made me laugh too.

would that be likely to be the Fallon refered to in the Bill Hicks Biography I've just been reading? I've leant it to a friend and can't remember the rest of the guy's name. Would be good to know that I found him funny :-) hey if Hicks liked him. . . .

Hi! How's Edinburgh? I don't know if it misses us, but we miss it.

Sadly, I don't know the answer to your question. Who's Bill Hicks?
Random-Redhead[info]random_redhead on February 26th, 2004 01:27 am (UTC)
Edinburgh is bright but cold :-) It misses all people who miss it, except for those who do really silly things when it breathes a sigh of relief ;-)
Bill Hicks was a wonderful standup comedian real cutting edge telling it how it is stuff, Dennis Leary Allegedly nicked a lot of stuff from him. Sadly now deceased. Go find and enjoy :-)

We're planning on attending the Glasgow WorldCon next year, but we wouldn't dream of overlooking Edinburgh on the trip (unless we overlook it from the castle).

I'd guess we're not talking about the same Fallons. Jimmy is not yet thirty, and didn't become much known until becoming a Saturday Night Live castmember in 1998.

For my part, I'm teaching myself about Bill Hicks at:

Found a mention of a Kansas City comedian named Fallon Woodland in Hicks's bio. That must be your culprit.

Damn. Sorry I missed it. Wonder if that clip is downloadable from the SNL web site.

Tina Fey. I have this wonderful recurring dream about a threeway with her and Cheri Oteri.....

I'd replace Cheri Oteri with Maya Rudolph, but I definitely feel your pain.
