An anonymous reader points out that I did indeed hear Africa referred to as "the dark continent" on NPR last week, and that they apologized today on air:

She did apologize. She said the term was "antiquated and pejorative."

I've been a little in love with her a big fan of hers for at least 23 years. I wish more people had heard and enjoyed Aerial, at least here.
