Live playoff
I'm happy to discover that you can watch the U.S. Open playoff live online at:

(And Rocco just made a hell of a tee shot on the third hole.)

This means I don't have to run back and forth between the office and the television.)

Alas, the problem with playing the greatest golfer ever is he's the greatest golfer ever.

Yet I would argue that this makes Rocco's achievement yesterday even greater. He lost, but he gave the greatest player ever his greatest battle ever. It was awe-inspiring.

"Later than Live" Playoff
As long as you manage to avoid the news reports, there's still the thrill of DVR viewing. I got home late last night and watched the whole thing, while zipping through commercials and way too much blather. Since this was via Time Warner Cable's system, I did have to set to record about seven different program segments to accomplish it, though.

And what an excellent playoff it was. Interesting that the much-loved Tiger, on what amounts to home ground, ended up having to listen to almost continuous chanting of "Rocco! Rocco! Rocco!" throughout the last half of the round. There was just something so appealing about his regular guy looks, his expressiveness and humanness. You gotta figure at least a few million more people are seriously aware of him now than were before the start of the tournament. I'm wondering what interesting endorsement deals might come his way out of not winning the U. S. Open.

And I'm wondering if Tiger will feel well enough by British Open time (mid-July) to test his knee again in public. A gutty performance but sometimes agonizing to watch.

Re: "Later than Live" Playoff
My in-laws are golf fanatics, and it would have been almost impossible for me to avoid hearing the results. But as it was, I abandoned my office for living-room about an hour into the round. The other good thing about a DVR is that you can pause during those commercials and take a bathroom break! The only thing that messed me up a bit was that I was a couple of minutes behind the live broadcast when I had to switch from ESPN to NBC.
