Huddled in basement with dog, backpack, and brand-new iPhone given to me by Laura today, while tornado reportedly goes by outside. Thunder terrifying. Leg asleep from dog on it. Laura at work still.

Hopefully you've survived intact and with electricity. This storm was a nasty one and it's not quite over yet. It looks like it's regenerating right over the north side of Chicago.
We managed a 90 minute power outage in the suburbs, but that looks like the worst of it so far.

Eeeeps. Tornados scare me....but then I generally laugh at the poor people who move to the West Coast who are afraid of earthquakes.
Tornadoes scare the heck out of me! But I have to say, I think earthquakes would be worse, because there's not a warning for them, and the aftershocks can go on for days.
I guess the worst thing would be to live somewhere where they have both. If there's a tornado warning and you're huddled in the basement when the earthquake hits, you're screwed!
